The Engineering Plate is a flexible steel build surface finished with a smooth polyester powder coating that’s been formulated for heat, scratch and corrosion resistance. Where Bambu Lab’s textured PEI plates are aimed at general-purpose printing, the Engineering Plate is built specifically to handle higher bed temperatures and the more demanding, often abrasive engineering filaments used in functional and technical parts.
Because the surface is smooth rather than textured, prints come off the plate with a clean, even underside. It supports the full range of Bambu filament materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PVA, PC and PA/PET-CF blends, though a glue stick or liquid glue is required across all materials to get reliable first-layer adhesion on this surface.
Like Bambu Lab’s other spring steel plates, it’s magnetically secured to the heated bed for quick swapping between plate types, and it flexes to help release finished prints once they’ve cooled.
